"Time Hands" Interactive Site-specific Installation

Time Hands
​​​​​​​Interactive installation for railway museum with eight screen panoramic projection and huge dial as an interface. Old steam locomotive depot was renovated and railway turntable was replaced with rotating table. Visitors can select different time period of railroad evolution within table rotation. Selected story is told on the arc screen which consist 8 separated screens mounted in locomotive roundhouse.

User interface projected on table surface and real-time graphic engine provides fast responce for user interaction. Floor projection enhances experience and invites visitor to act with the installation.

The whole system is sight specific and was developed from scratch including custom projector rigging and dial design which is inspired by railway bogie.

Absolute optical encoder provides precise data of table position and rotation speed to the whole system via Ethernet.

Outer radius of installation also used as a projection surface and tells the story about eight most important railway industry professions.​​​​​
Sixteen motorized roller screens was mounted along with custom screen control system. Flexebility of museum space usage is possible with independent control of screen pairs.
